Troubles with duplicated SYSID in 2 LPARs

 Bottom

During the process of SCRT Sub-capacity report for charges of Mainframe processing a problem arises when 2 LPARs (BC2A and BC3A) have the same SYSID (BC2A) (the duplicated LPAR BC3A is a full copy of the same z/OS system in the first LPAR BC2A with its own disk volumes adjusted for its IPL and the new disk storage devices). The two z/OS systems are working OK on different LPARs having the same disk volume names on different disk device addresses and with different TCP IP addresses. Care is taken in the common IOCDS and in the different COMMND00 members of respective library sys1.parmlib the disk addresses in each LPAR to be unique online or set in their IODFs online or offline respectively.
To have the same SYSID name running on the same Mainframe in two LPARs is not a trouble for the two independed systems. Concerning the SCRT Support however – the Duplicate SYSIDs is a restriction of SCRT – this is a trouble problem! The SCRT program requires combined SMF information for all 3 activated LPARs. So the strange results (missing information for LPAR BC3A are easy to explain). When SMF extract is made to combine the information for the 3 LPARs the following happened:
“DETAIL DATA COLLECTION”
“”,”SYSID”,”Input Data Start”,””,”Input Data End”,””,”Report Period % Data
“BC1B”,”BC1B”,”02 Aug 2012 – 09:00″,””,”01 Sep 2012 – 23:45″,””,”98.6%”
“BC2A”,”BC2A”,”02 Aug 2012 – 13:03″,””,”01 Sep 2012 – 23:48″,””,”98.1%”
“BC3A”,”-“,”-“,””,”-“,””,”0.0%”,””,”(required)”
The solution in this case is to rename the SMF input records with duplicated SYSID (BC2A) for LPAR BC3A as SYSID (BC3A) using the utility program PATTRSNW received as binary file rensysio.bin attached to email from SCRT Support Team received on request from link : LMSUP@dk.ibm.com .
After saving file rensysio.bin from e-mail to PC, it is transferred as a binary file (with FTP or TSO IND$FILE) to z/OS library member PATTRSNW of BC2A.ZOS140.OPER.LIB as adjusted job PATTRSNW ready for execution.
Job PATTRSNW /in library BC2A.ZOS140.OPER.LIB/ renames duplicated SYSIDS (PARM=’/BC2A*BC3A’) in certain records from SMFIN file DSN=KCI08.SMF.D051112 to SMFOUT file DSN=KCI08.SMFR.D051112 as follows:

// PATTRSNW JOB MSGLEVEL=(1,1),MSGCLASS=X,TIME=1440,CLASS=F
//STEP1 EXEC PGM=LOADER,PARM=’/BC2A*BC3A’
//SYSLOUT DD SYSOUT=*
//SYSUT1 DD UNIT=VIO,SPACE=(TRK,(2,2))
//* CHANGE THE FOLLOWING TO YOUR INPUT SMF DATASET
//SMFIN DD DISP=SHR,DSN=KCI08.SMF.D051112
//* THIS WILL CONTAIN THE INPUT DATA SET WITH THE SYSID CHANGED
//SMFOUT DD DSN=KCI08.SMFR.D051112,DISP=(,CATLG,DELETE),
// UNIT=SYSDA,
// BLKSIZE=8192,SPACE=(TRK,(23250,600))
//SYSLIN DD *

END 1566896201 020106090

After renaming SMF files of LPAR BC3A with SYSID BC2A as SYSID BC3A and concatenating the renamed SMF data of LPAR BC3A (file DSN=KCI08.SMFR.D051112) together with the SMF data of LPAR BC2A and LPAR BC1B, the resulted summary SMF extract data file is passed to SCRT program and processed successfully for the 3 LPARs: BC2A, BC3A and BC1B.
